Al-Maisan decided to travel further east. He had heard of the Silk Route, a network of tracks connecting the Mediterrenean with the Far East, and wanted to follow it to the great empires he had heard of. .:Note-On-The-Side:.:: Monday, November 18, 2002 :: Buddha also explaind that Karma is the law that every action has an effect. This explains inequality in the world and many other things. It also means that if you do right, right is done to you. Al-Maisan had some questions about this, but he had learned enough. This was not as much a religion as it was a philosophy, a way of life. He had to move on, he still had areas to explore.:: Sunday, November 17, 2002 :: When Al-Maisan asked how this could be done, Buddha replied with his Fourth noble truth. To reach the end of suffering, you have to follow the Noble 8-fold path. This is, in short, being moral (through what we say, do and our livelihood), focussing the mind on being fully aware of our thoughts and actions, and developing wisdom by understanding the Four Noble Truths and by developing compassion for others.:: Saturday, November 16, 2002 :: Al-Maisan asked Buddha wether it was possible to stop suffering. Buddha told him that suffering could be overcome amd true happinesse is possible. To achieve this one has to learn to live each day at a time, without thinking of the past or en imaginative future. If one does that, he, or she, has more time and energy to help others. Then Nirvana is reached. This is Buddha's third truth.
