:: Saturday, November 16, 2002 :: Al-Maisan asked Buddha wether it was possible to stop suffering. Buddha told him that suffering could be overcome amd true happinesse is possible. To achieve this one has to learn to live each day at a time, without thinking of the past or en imaginative future. If one does that, he, or she, has more time and energy to help others. Then Nirvana is reached. This is Buddha's third truth.:: Wednesday, November 13, 2002 :: The second noble truth, according to Buddha, is that suffering is caused by wanting and expectation. Most emotional pain is caused by people that do not act the way you expect them to and things that are not what you want them to be. In his teachings, Buddha says not to try to get what you want, but to modify your wanting.:: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 :: It was not the intention of Buddha to accept the suffering. He said he tried to teach people how to avoid suffering and pain. The first thing to do, when trying to avoid suffering, is to recognise that life is suffering. Buddha told Al-Maisan of his philosophy. He thougt that there were four noble truths. The first was that life is suffering. Not only physically, but also emotionally. This was not a pessimistic truth, merely an acknowledgement of suffering.:: Monday, November 11, 2002 :: .:Note-On-The-Side:.:: Sunday, November 10, 2002 :: Buddha asked Al-Maisan to come over to his home. They sat down on the floor and had some tea. It was a simple place, but according to Buddha perfect for contemplation and suffering.
